Charles Remsberg, CEO Mr. Remsberg joined Tibion in late 2009 after serving for 3 years as CEO of Hocoma Inc., the U.S. sales and marketing arm of the privately held Swiss company Hocoma AG, best known for its clinic-based Lokomat® robotic gait orthosis that has helped thousands of American patients with spinal cord, stroke, traumatic brain injury and cerebral palsy to recover their ability to walk. Prior to that position, Mr. Remsberg was head of worldwide sales for Hocoma, and for more than 10 years, an executive of Biodex Medical Systems, Shirley, NY. At Biodex, he rose from product development manager to head of worldwide sales for the nation’s leading supplier of balance, gait, and joint rehabilitation systems.
Robert Horst, Vice President of R&D & Cofounder Robert Horst is the cofounder and Vice President of R&D at Tibion Corporation where he has been designing products for robotic therapy and mobility enhancement. He has more than 30 years of experience in electronics, systems architecture and fault-tolerant computing from his tenure at Hewlett Packard, Tandem Computers, Compaq, 3ware, and Network Appliance. As a consultant, he has worked with several startup companies and served as an expert witness in patent litigation. Dr. Horst is an IEEE Fellow and currently holds over 70 U.S. Patents. He received a BSEE from Bradley University, an MSEE from the University of Illinois and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Illinois.
Phil Brooks, Vice President of Finance Mr. Brooks joined Tibion from Sanarus Medical where he served as the VP of Finance. Mr. Brooks has over 30 years experience as a financial executive. Prior to joining Sanarus, he served as Chief Accounting Officer and Controller at VidaMed, an early stage public company focused on treating enlarged prostates using RF ablation. He has a breadth of financial management and reporting experience. Mr. Brooks began his professional career at Arthur Andersen, where he earned his CPA certificate. He earned an MBA in accounting from Golden Gate University.
David Black, Vice President of Operations & Engineering. David has over 25 years leadership experience, with over 15 years in the medical device industry. He has held a variety of senior management roles in medical device companies with high- and low-volume manufacturing operations, including Johnson & Johnson and Inhale Therapeutics. Prior to joining Tibion, David was the vice president of operations and plant manager of the Boston Scientific Electrophysiology facility in San Jose, CA, where he was responsible for high-volume diagnostic and ablation catheter manufacturing. After graduating from West Point with a BS in engineering with an electrical engineering major, he served as an infantry officer in the United States Army. He also holds an MBA from St. Mary’s College of California.
Josh Vose, MD, Vice President of Clinical Affairs Prior to joining Tibion, Dr. Vose served as medical director at PEAK Surgical, a Palo Alto firm recently acquired by Medtronic. At PEAK, Dr. Vose designed and executed numerous human clinical and animal preclinical studies examining the effects of a novel electrosurgical device (the PEAK PlasmaBlade) on surgical healing. In addition to his work at PEAK, Dr. Vose was employed in advanced engineering at Stryker Endoscopy, and product management at Siemens. Dr. Vose is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine and trained in general surgery at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Harvard Medical School. He graduated with highest honors in chemical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and studied abroad at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Rob Cripe, Sr VP Marketing. Joining Tibion in Jan, 2012, Rob brings over 20 years of experience in the medical device arena with a proven track record running marketing and development teams worldwide. His expertise in upstream and downstream marketing, product launch processes, portfolio planning, branding and messaging, medical education strategies and sales and distribution networks has been refined in large, medium and small companies throughout his career. Starting his career in Warsaw, Indiana, known as the “Orthopedic capital of the World” Rob has held executive positions with companies such as Biomet, Interpore Cross, Smith and Nephew, Pegasus Biologics, and most recently DJO Global where he served as the SVP of Strategic Marketing. Throughout his career, he has adjusted his commercial execution strategies to maximize effectiveness and drive growth for that organization. Rob earned his undergraduate degrees in business and communications from private liberal arts college in Warsaw, called Grace, making his career in medical devices a natural fit.
